'CANDESCENCE'
The release of Candescence marks the end
of a journey that began in 2003 with Nick's album Eclipse. After
a 6 year hiatus from playing or composing music, Eclipse was
Nick's attempt to explore musical directions beyond the realm of the
New Age and World music styles that defined his 1997 album Tears
of the Moon. The result was an eclectic mix of musical styles that
defied a genre. The critics liked it, but it sat in no mans land on
the musical landscape.
Tales of a Summer Past, released in February 2005, was a decisive
step in a direction that Candescence has taken to the next stage.
What began as a tentative exploration of classical crossover music with
Eclipse has now become a definitive and articulate statement.
Nick Davis has arrived as a neo classical composer. He has created an
album of orchestral music that tugs at the heart. It is romantic and
passionate. The charming chamber music quality that characterised many
of the compositions on Tales of a Summer Past is still prevalent,
however Nick has delved more deeply into complex orchestral arrangements
and developed musical ideas and concepts to a far greater degree. This
has certainly not been at the expense of the music's accessibility.
Candescence will appeal to a broad spectrum of music lovers who
enjoy high quality instrumental music.

HOW
CANDESCENCE WAS RECORDED
Nick is one of a small but growing band of composers
who create orchestral music using digitally sampled sound libraries.
All tracks on Candescence were recorded using the East West Quantum
Leap Symphonic Orchestra sample library (gold edition) and the East
West PMI Bösendorfer 290 piano library. Acoustic violin was recorded
on one of the tracks. Nick produced, engineered and mixed the album
in his own studio. Enhancement mastering was completed at Bonsai Recording
Studio (Australia).
